Who are you?
My name is Undine and I am currently a student at a small liberal arts university (which I call Hogwarts, for a plethora of reasons) studying a self-designed major. I have a varied set of interests which leads me in all sorts of directions and doesn’t exactly help me figure out what the heck I’m going to do with my life. Though, considering I’m in my last year of school, I suppose I should work on that…
Why should I bother reading your ramblings?
Because you love me? Because I’m amazing at alliteration? Because I’m interesting? Because I’m quirky? Because you take pity on me? Take your pick! If you do read, please comment! I love meeting new people and discovering new blogs! Please, come join the party!
So what do you ramble about?
Usually, I try to discuss some aspect of my life/my thoughts on a topic that I’ve been reading about or discussing in school, but recently, I have started to review books and fanfiction, both as a way of keeping track of what I read, as well as a way to connect to more people in the blogosphere! Oh, and I also discuss my thoughts concerning my future, since, as I mentioned above, that needs some figuring out within the coming months.
Why “Upsidedown Duck”?
A close friend of mine once made an offhand comment about how I am like an upside-down duck. A duck is known for appearing calm on the surface of the water, while its legs are furiously moving under the water where you can’t see it. When applied to me, my mind is always furiously working, though I am (usually) able to appear completely calm and in control. Thus, since it is my head, and not my legs (I hate exercise!) that is constantly moving, I am an upsidedown duck!
What’s up with the “In Which…” post titles?
As a passionate reader of fairy/faerie tales my entire life, I always loved how some had chapters with titles such as “In Which Cinderella Goes to the Ball and Finds Her Prince”, and I feel that this lovely tradition has fallen by the wayside, and it is my duty to revitalize it. I used to limit myself to titling all my posts in this manner, but have since decided that that’s too limiting, and so only do it when the mood strikes. Which is often. Ish.
